6.1%. This is the percentage of the adult U.S. population that has served in our Armed Services. Nationwide, 32,882 Veterans experienced homelessness in 2024. California has the highest number of homeless veterans, followed by Florida and Texas. Of those 32,882 veterans experiencing homelessness, 19,031 were in sheltered settings (like emergency shelters or transitional housing) and 13,851 were unsheltered (living in places not meant for human habitation).
The Need is Great: More than 52,000 Homeless Veterans in 2025
Villages for Vets is dedicated to eradicating homelessness within our Veteran Community. These Americans took the oath and selflessly put their lives on the line for freedoms that we all enjoy. It’s long past time we give back to our Veteran community and ensure that no man or woman is left behind.
The VA: “Villages for Vets USA Has Created the Affordable Permanent Housing Solution Needed”
The team at Villages for Vets designs projects to bring the homeless Veterans off the cold and dangerous streets to a more permanent new life and future with a furnished single-family detached home. We plan to provide permanent and affordable housing and care for homeless Veterans in every city in the United States.
The Veterans Administration in Washington DC is supporting Dr. Leonard Bloom, accomplished developer and philanthropist, and the non-profit organization he founded, Villages for Vets USA. Dr. Bloom’s extensive building development background allowed his team to create an expedited housing program partnering with the nation’s top manufactured housing builders.
Permanent Housing for Each Homeless Veteran
Across the United States, Villages for Vets will be using different manufacturers to keep housing costs as affordable as possible, and to expedite quick placement of the units for immediate occupancy.
A typical floor plan of each self-contained permanent house of approximately 400-500 square feet will include: bedroom, full bathroom, dining area, well-equipped kitchen, and living area with television.
Highly Affordable Housing for Homeless Vets ─ Finally!
Our costs to provide a permanent furnished house for each Veteran is approximately $60,000. Comparable per-door costs for permanent and temporary housing is in excess of $100,000 without the care Villages for Vets also delivers.
San Diego City Council has just approved a per-door cost in a high-rise building of more than $1 million for “affordable housing.”
Homeless Veterans Occupy Their New Homes within 30 Days
Veteran occupancy can be within 30 days of securing a site.
The challenge in some states like California is finding available property to accommodate multiple homes on the same lot at a reasonable cost for the property, and City officials willing to abide by the State and Federal expediting laws.
Additional water, sewer, and electricity can be furnished at a later date if needed.
VA Hospitals and Clinics Available to Assist Veterans Placed in Our Permanent Housing
On-going care for our formerly homeless Veterans is coordinated with the regional VA hospital and local VA clinics. Residents in Villages for Vets are given help and resources to improve their lives.

Steps to ZERO Homelessness for Veterans (for Governors and Their Staff)
As Governor, you promote the welfare of all the citizens in your state. One of the most important issues affecting your state’s well-being is homelessness.
Start to solve the problem by getting homeless Veterans off the streets and into permanent housing. Your objective should be to have ZERO homeless Veterans in your state.
We want to work with you to accomplish this ─ and we have the VA’s support for our highly affordable permanent housing solution at a scheduled $60,000 per home.
Villages for Vets will deliver affordable permanent housing ─ and care ─ for homeless Veterans.
To each Governor, here’s how we need your participation:
- Identify the contact individual(s) in each city or county that can assist in locating the homeless Veterans in each city or county.
- Have those individuals identify the number of homeless veterans in each city or county.
- Ask the designated individual(s) or appropriate staff to identify vacant property in their jurisdiction where homeless Veterans can be immediately placed, with expedited processing.
- Put Villages for Vets in contact with each designated contact where there are homeless Veterans.
- The Governor’s office, each city or county, and Villages for Vets will work together to expedite the processing and placement of the homeless Veterans into permanent housing.
- Villages for Vets will finalize the use of the government land to be donated, leased, or jointly owned in a partnership.
- Villages for Vets will contact each designated official to arrange placement on the vacant property.
The Governor, Mayors, and Supervisors will be asked to assist Villages for Vets with funding from these sources, as well as others:
- Funds already allocated to temporary or permanent housing, that can be utilized by Villages for Vets for our affordable permanent housing and quick placement.
- Grants
- Major foundations eager to support our solution for permanent housing
- Many major corporations
- Individual philanthropists
We will be sending monthly announcements to local and national media to show the progress toward reducing the number of homeless Veterans in each state.
Your goal as governor should be to have ZERO homeless Veterans in your state, and we can help you achieve it. We will get you national publicity for achieving the solution to solving the homeless crisis among Veterans.

We have accomplished this goal with our projects that will bring the homeless Veterans from out of the cold and dangerous streets to a more permanent new life and future with a single-family detached home shown here:
